Costco and trial membership
Whenever you make a significant purchase, keep the receipt in your wallet or purse and check the price on subsequent visits over the next month. When you see a lower price, just take your receipt to the customer service desk and get some money back.
Lost your receipt? No problem as all your purchases are kept in their system and can be pulled up with your membership card. How do you save money at Costco? But…a great workaround is to use the free Ibotta app on your smartphone. All you have to do is shop like you normally would, scan your Costco receipt via the Ibotta app, and collect your rebate money.
Ibotta is one of my favorite apps and makes for a great money-saving companion whenever you enter the Costco warehouse. By Kyle James. This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. Learn how your comment data is processed.
Just this 1 product pays for the membership fee. We have saved many times the membership fee by buying prescription glasses at Costco as we have 2 kids who wear their glasses as well as 2 adults. You can order most stuff on costco.
Great point. I HAVE seen such specials…. Price protection at our warehouse has been reduced to 14 days. The change happened quite some time ago. I buy my contacts at Costco. They are a lot cheaper than at Walmart! Non-members can use the pharmacy to save on prescriptions! If I join Costco, and the pandemic ceases, will delivery service still be available?
I am 90 and delivery is key. This is done by instacart which not only charges more per item but then tacks on extra fees for delivery. Sounds great, right? You might be able to find Costco Shop Cards available for purchase online at eBay or other retailers. It can be reloaded, but only by a Costco member and only in person at the store. Remember that willing friend or family member who could purchase you a Costco Shop Card?
Well, you could just tag along with them as they shop. Members are allowed to bring up to two guests into the warehouse it says this on their website , but only Costco members may purchase items. You could have your transaction rung up separately and reimburse your friend later or just use your payment card to pay. But it is possible to get Costco goodies through Instacart. However, you will get extra savings through Instacart — and earn Costco Rewards — if you add your Costco membership number at checkout.

You can purchase items online at Costco. Plus, online items at Costco. Costco even says this on their website. Their Kirkland store brand offers the best deals and may be manufactured by your favorite well-known companies. Got a prescription to fill? They offer prescriptions for pets, too! Due to state and federal laws, Costco is required to offer these low-priced prescriptions to all people. This means you do not need a membership to purchase prescription drugs at Costco, and you can buy prescriptions both at their warehouses and also online.
You may also be able to order your prescriptions online for delivery via mail and auto-refill, if necessary. How convenient! However, Costco does offer members an extra benefit on prescriptions: the Costco Membership Prescription Program. Also, you can get discounted immunizations and vaccinations at Costco without a membership. Walk-ins are welcome, but they do recommend you reserve your time in advance which you can do so online.
Be sure to bring your insurance card as many insurance companies will cover the price of your shots. Hey, I get it! Snob If they sold food like every other grocery store, no one would be paying for a membership. There obviously is an added value Costco offers but people want to see if the prices make sense for that kind of investment.
Even my health club gives guess passes. I used to have a CostCo membership and only used it a few times because, as another poster said, Walmart has better prices. Same merchandise. At all. I thought I was signing up for good buys but I was greatly disappointed.
Both are too far for me to get to because I do not drive. And I love all the sample foods they offer, I bought many of them. Stores are required by law to sell gas to everyone just like prescriptions. The only requirement any warehouse can make is limiting payment to CC. Go to Walmart instead for the best prices and for food package sizes that are not designed for large circus families.
As far as kids, snacks, etc. You can easily walk out of there paying less than 50 dollars a week on groceries. Surely 10 or 5 bucks is worth it. Then you can all make your weekly shopping trip to Costco preplanned to get the stuff, or the one family member who HOLDS the card in name has to pay 25 and the other three pay 10, and each year, you take turns being cardholder. Another idea would be to order a pizza from Costco and bring it home for the crew to eat. The pizzas are just 9. I feel like thats a pretty good deal when you compare it to Dominoes.
They screwed up and when they wrote the citi rewards policy and we switched from Amex, it said we had to have a current membership to get the Citi Card. Well I did, when I got it. I figured out I go twice a year if that and decided to stop going. Turns out Citi still kept me and I still have rewards sent to me every year. So I use my certificate and go to Costco and shop with it.
