Install vista via harddisk
I haven't tried this yet but I really think it should work: If you are trying to install from an HDD with no OS present except for a partition that contains Vista install files , then make a Grub4Dos floppy. Add the following to your menu. If, on the other hand, you already have Vista or XP installed, then follow the guide here to make Grub4Dos your bootmanager. Then add the lines above to your menu.
So does Vista install and VistaPE. So does the actual Vista OS itself - they all use bootmgr. Moreover, you don't have to format the partition any special way. I have booted VistaPE from a partition that already had data on it. I've tried FAT32 as well and it also works. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Only issue I had was using the hotkeys and enter to open CMD as administrator. On my 'host' machine it opens with restricted rights so it confused me for a moment got it right third time.
But all I did was click on the start globe, type cmd in the search box and CMD comes up as the first result. Right click on it and select 'run as administrator' and it's no longer an issue. So no, it's not the same as the other guides if that is your question. By StevenTyler Follow. More by the author:. About: Not even a fan of Aerosmith, it's just a username.

And if you never received a Recovery Disk when you purchased your Computer there should be a Recovery Partition on the Hard Drive to reinstall Vista back to how you bought your Computer.
The Recovery process can be started by pressing a particular Key or Keys combination at Boot. And if you do have a Manufacturer's Recovery Partition on your Hard Drive, you should be able to make your own Recovery Disks from it to reinstall the Operating System. If you can not find any reference to it, contact the Manufacturer for advice on how to make those Recovery Disks.
And you need to know the "bit" version for Vista, as 32bit and 64bit Editions come on different DVDs. And once the Operating System is installed, go to your Computer Manufacturer's website and obtain the latest Drivers for your particular Model Computer or Laptop. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback.
