Tweet to us Mokafive. The use of contract employees is not limited to one industry or business size. Although hiring contract workers can provide benefits to businesses, there are also risks associated. So do the benefits outweigh the risks and how do you mitigate the risks, should your company choose to move forward with the hiring of independent contractors?
There are a number of benefits to hiring an independent contractor as part of your workforce, as opposed to an additional full-time employee, including cost savings and staffing flexibility. Hiring contract workers also provides greater staffing flexibility than hiring traditional employees.
Because most independent contractors bring specialized expertise to the job, they can usually be productive immediately, reducing time and costs of training. This, combined with the idea that employers can hire for a specific task or project, make contract workers a good solution for fluctuating workloads.
Although there are a number of benefits to hiring an independent contractor, as opposed to a full-time employee, hiring a contract worker can also pose some risks including: the potential of a government audit, sensitive company or customer information leaks, and malware infections and unauthorized intrusions. Hiring a contract worker also poses restrictions on firing.
Unlike with a traditional employee, your right to fire an independent contractor depends on your written agreement with that individual. As a result, if you fire an independent contractor in violation of the agreement, you could be liable for damages. However, legal ramifications, should you choose to fire a contract employee, are only part of the risk associated.
Depending on the procedures put in place, a former contract worker could have access to internal systems post-engagement. Even in a relationship that does not result in a disgruntled employee, access to internal systems post-engagement, can pose a threat for the hiring organization. As might be expected, some of the greatest disadvantages of hiring contract employees come from the threats involving how these contractors access data both during and after the engagement.
What if you could reap the benefits of hiring contract employees while eliminating these data-focused threats? Moka5 does just that. Benefits of the M5 for Contractor Workforce Solution include:. The moka5 site as a whole doesn't offer very detailed info. I saw "VMware" once or twice in the entire site, the most detailed description is on the moka5 home page under "moka5 engine" and even that description doesn't say much. Seems like a lot of marketing nonsense It appears to use something it calls LivePCs. Which, as mentioned above, are virtual machines which you can run within windows. I'm not sure yet if it's portable, but it would be nice if it is. However because the vmplayer installer that this software wants to run hangs terribly on my system it seems that it is going to be more of a bother than it's worth.
Another thing about it is that it is not open source, and only the betas are apparently going to be free to download. Presumably to help them with working out the bugs so they can then charge for the final product. I'm gonna have to give this one a big thumbs down in it's current incarnation. It just installs and then uninstalls the VMWare Player and then runs a pre-built virtual machine inside it. This is why it requires admin rights. It must be some kind of issue with my system.
It tried to install vmplayer, the install hung, after about 30 minutes of no apparent activity, I went ahead and tried to close it. It then proceeded to attempt to uninstall it, after another 15 minutes of inactivity I went ahead and killed it, and moved my system to a previous backup.
The only benefit of moka is the unattended instalation of the vmwareplayer, the rest is an overhead over vmwareplayer Skip to main content. NEWS: Moka5 now runs from non-administrator accounts. What does that mean? You can go out and buy Vista and install it on your PC. Six months from now, you get a new PC without an OS. You can transfer Vista to that machine. That's it. Any future PCs will require another license. Again, there will be many interpretations by people who wish to 'adapt' the EULA to their own requirements. But that doesn't make it legal or proper. Perhaps you might want to consult a lawyer for help.
Anyway, the EULA makes for some very interesting reading. I don't know for certain but if I had to guess, this would not be one of the items in Steve's back pocket-- unless there is some arcane clause of their agreement.
I believe back in the day, Connectix was but then Microsoft bough them. And why would it take Vista for Apple to enable this? They could done this with XP on the introduction of Boot Camp. Instead, Apple says we don't do Windows - go buy your own copy. We may never know the "truth" but I would say keep guessing: 1. DRM 2. Apple 3. Go to www. You have posted to the wrong ng.
You should post to microsoft. Even myself having a hard time with Linux on F80s. However, t is not a supported platform by Microsoft. If so what are the restrictios. So to clerify If im hosting VPC on my 64 bit home premium machine i can emulate another vista home premium machine using my vista product key? I know there may be errors like previously stated from other posts. I'm not "needing" VPC but it would be a very nice tool to be able to use for random purposes.
Thank you for your time. Not legally. Your Vista license is for 1 installation, you can't use it on your physical computer and a VM. Future inquiries regarding VPC for Windows should go to microsoft. Had the same problem but have just installed' Virtual Box' from Sun micro systems. It works well. Hopefully MS will release a system that is compatible with all their platforms.
