The cyclist doesn't benefit at all - often the first patch won't seal properly, or the second, or sometimes the third. The higher the tire pressure, the more likely you are to have a problem with these patches. You do get a set of tire irons in lieu of the glue, which themselves are probably worth the price of this kit, but if you have to remove the tire two or three times to replace a failed patch then you're well advised to keep the tire irons and throw away the patches and buy the Bell Bicycle Tube Repair Kit, too, which has glue and bare patches but no tire irons.

Better yet, buy a glue-y patch kit and a set of aluminum tire irons at your local bike store. They'll set you back a sawbuck, but then your children won't learn any bad words from you while you're removing and remounting the tire. Sears Automotive may have done a fine job repairing jtizzle's tire, by they probably didn't use this patch kit to do it.

I had the guys in the Sears Automotive Department put a patch in my tire and it works fantastic! The patch stuck ok, but the air pressure blew a hole in the patch.

Just didn't do the job. I kept the kit though, because I liked the tire levers 3 that came in the kit. Sign-in or Register. All Departments All Departments. Report This. Reward points: in points.
