        Dax and two privates, in a daring mission, save Gen. Shepherd Ed Lauter and some soldiers from an attack of the bugs, and Shepherd gives him a command position. While waiting for rescue, some troopers are invaded through their mouths by small bugs that took control of their brains. When Gen. Shepherd is possessed by one creature, Dax and Sahara try to avoid him to come back to the Federation.Unfortunately, this sequel is very weak. The direction is awful, the special effects are not good, the horrible story begins in the middle of a combat, without any explanation or previous development of the characters. Further, there are terrible lines, and the officer in command is coward, the general looks like an imbecile, and the "hero" is a man who does not respect or follows orders, capable of killing his leader. I love sci-fi movies, but I do not recommend this one. My vote is four. Not many straight-to-DVD films work, especially sequels, and this is a perfect example of why it shouldn't always be done.Basically, still in the distant, a gang of troopers, still fighting against those crawling giant bugs, and they find shelter in an abandoned military post. They chat about the war, a tiny bit of bug shooting, some more chat, and then at last, something reasonably interesting, you find out there is a new bug that can get inside your brain and control you.That's really all I have to say. You can tell the film was very low budget, hardly any special effects at all, which explains why it is more chatty and fast-paced, only the bits of gore and nudity are reasonably the same, it is just a rubbish attempt at a sequel. Tweekums 22 April  Sometime after the events shown in 'Starship Troopers' a squad of Federation soldiers is facing overwhelming odds on a 'bug planet'.General Jack Shepherd orders most of his squad retreat to a nearby outpost while he and a handful of soldiers hold off the bugs for as long as they can. They find the outpost to be virtually abandoned; the only person present is Captain Dax, a decorated soldier accused of murdering his senior officer.Psychic Lt. Pavlov Dill wants him kept in custody but as the bugs attack another soldier releases Dax. They hold off the attack and amazingly General Shepherd and a handful of others have survived and got to the outpost. They manage to get the outpost's defences working but soon it becomes apparent that there is a danger inside the walls.The previous film was very much a war film and while this one starts off that way it quickly becomes a horror film as the soldiers are trapped in the outpost. There are less deaths here but many of the ones we do get are substantially more disturbing thanks to the new type of bug which has infiltrated the base. The fact that the planet is dark and means we don't get scenes of vast numbers of bugs sweeping across a desert; instead we get limited numbers and shots of soldiers shooting While the war scenes were a little weak the more gory horror scenes were better than I expected.The fact that we have an entirely new cast of characters is a slight problem; we join them in the middle of a battle and there is little time to get to know anything about more than a handful of them. The cast does an okay job considering there are no big name actors amongst them. Overall I'd say that I enjoyed this much more than I expected The movie concerns about a team of soldiers who are surrounded in a shelter by an army of bugs formed by thousands of giant insects.But some officers become disenfranchised and feel betrayed by their own military. They'll take on too much dangers. The confrontation will be terrifying and lethal.The fighting will be terrible. The final showdown between the soldiers and contenders is breathtaking. The film mingles shootouts , emotions , violence , struggles and a little bit of gore.From the beginning to finish the warlike action is continued. First-rate special effects , they are made by means of computer generator by Eric Leven though there are Animatronics , as well. With the exception of stock footage used for the Fed-Net opening , no visual effects shots were recycled from the previous film ; they were all newly created by Tippett Studio. However , the storm clouds are actually toilet paper tubes with cotton stuck to them , slowly rolled forward , they were darkened and layered digitally.Phil Tippet's direction he created FX of the first part is average. The movie is a bit boring , because developing itself in locked and shut scenarios.The cast is mostly formed by secondary actors and little known ; thus the starring , Richard Burgi , has appeared in several television series , only Ed Lauter has been acting in many films , but as support cast.The picture will appeal to commandos movies buffs and science fiction fans. Despite opening with a brief snippet of Paul Verhoeven-style propaganda, Phil Tippet's sequel to the Dutch director's Starship Troopers contains very little in the way of the subversive satire that made the original so much fun.Whilst the result is nowhere near as good as Verhoeven's excessively violent blockbuster, it's certainly better than many reviews suggest. With no message or satirical subtext to worry about, Tippet gets on with the job at hand: delivering OTT gung-ho action, some nifty CGI aliens, a touch of nudity from blonde hottie Kelly Carlson , an effectively claustrophobic atmosphere, a touch of paranoia, and quite a large dollop of yucky gore.Such a markedly different approach is bound to upset many fans of the original, but personally, I was not offended at all, finding the change in style rather brave and quite refreshing. Likewise you could also argue that much of the character interaction could have come straight from one of those Erroll Flynn or John Wayne auctioneers where the grunts are expecting a mass attack of Germans or Japanese.Does this sequel deserve scorn because of what it's not? Considering things like budget this is an easy film to forgive. It's obvious Tippet hasn't been given much money to work with. The initial battle scenes with the bugs lack establishing or wide shots.Instead we're shown an over reliance of reaction shots as the grunts take on the arachnids. There's obligatory gore and as stated it's still a recognisible sequel to another film. It's hardly surprising it wasn't Oscar nominated but it remains surprisingly watchable. They manage to make it to an abandoned outpost. However a psychic named Sahara Colleen Porch begins to sense not everyone are who they claim It also 'borrows' heavily from the daddy of all sci-fi shoot 'em ups Aliens , you will know what I mean if you have seen it.It moves along at a fair pace although does tend to drag a bit in places. Director Tippett does alright in the director's chair but doesn't do anything outstanding. The acting by a cast of unknowns to me anyway is OK but no ones going to win any Oscars here. There are some hot babes here as well.Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation has much less ambition than the original, it is a pretty basic body snatcher type horror set around the Starship Trooper mythology. I liked it to an extent as a time waster but I'd probably have forgotten about it in a couple of days. Worth a watch but nothing spectacular. As long as you take the movie for what it is, you might find this movie quite entertaining and watchable. This movie is no different from many other B science-fiction movies out there but the movie has one big plus; The fantastic special effects.Believe it or not but the effects are on pair with those in the original "Starship Troopers". But with special-effects master Phil Tippett at the helm of making this movie, it's no big surprise really. In a way "Starship Troopers" was also a B-movie cheesy dialog, laughable actors, a silly story etc. Yes, Verhoeven's touch is most certainly missing in this sequel. His eye for satire and gore are the things that I was missing the most.This movie and "Starship Troopers" have in fact very little in common. The movie actually started of quite good and it was quite entertaining but suddenly at about halve way through the movie, the movie takes a turn and suddenly turns into some kind of Zombie's in space movie. Even Gollum shows up no not really It ruined a lot for me.The gore and violence in this movie are also typical horror like, not that is a bad thing of course, some of the scene's are actually quite good ever seen a chopped-off head in a microwave? Still the movie surely ain't as bad as people make you believe it is.Yes, of course when you compare it to the original "Starship Troopers" this movie turns pale in comparison. But as long as you can accept that this is a low budget B-science-fiction movie, you might enjoy this movie.From the very first frame of this film to the very last, it's completely obvious that it's a B-movie. A modern, low-budget, direct-to-video no less, action-B-movie. As a follow-up to the first, it's very bad. It turns the plot and theme of the first completely around. The plot is lame, and very unoriginal. The acting is horrible; there were times when it felt like a comedy, or a parody of the first.The characters are badly written cliches, derived from war movies and other B-movies. The cinematography is amateurish and lesser than that of the typical level of early film-student test film believe me, it really is that bad. The director or possibly the director of photography, or maybe the cameramen seems to have a fetish for pointless and very quick zooming shots, and there seems to be quite a lot of camera angles that are zoomed much too far in.I also hated a few of the pan shots, but there were not as many as the zoom shots, and they were somewhat far between. The special effects are quite awful, though there were one or two effects that looked decent. I couldn't stop laughing at the scenes where he tries to look heroic. The whole film is quite laughable. The attempts at humor are cringe-worthy, and almost every scene that is supposed to inspire fear, tension or horror, inspired laughter and mockery instead.The dialog is ridiculous, and very badly written. The action is tame and never really intense. The horror elements are derivative of several much better movies, and generally don't work like they're supposed to, for various reasons bad special effects,bad acting, bad camera angle.I know that this was direct-to-video, low-budget, and was possibly even intended as a B-movie, but come on, you can do better than this. Almost anyone could. I would guess that, given the same budget about six million dollars, I think , I could have supplied a better, more interesting 90 minute flick.None of the limitations can be used to excuse how bad the film is. So was Children of the Corn IV and American Psycho 2, and at least they were somewhat entertaining and much more professionally made. Low budget? Two words: El Mariachi.Take Barb Wire, for example. All in all, a pretty bad film, but fans of B-movies might enjoy it. I recommend this only to fans of B-movies, and people who wished the first had been more like a B-movie. Fans of the first should stay away. I don't regret watching this, though. It was good for a laugh, and knowing that it's so bad is better than wondering about it. Eventually the female protagonist, Private Sahara, and the male ex-hero of the federation, Dax, find themselves facing a new breed of Arachnid, a bug that infests the human body by forcing open the mouth and propagating inside the brain.They come to Dill with their news and make amends with him, also learning that he only made bad decisions because of the visions he was receiving and that he felt incredibly guilty over the loss of men under his command in the escape.Sahara tells Dill that she has been receiving parts of the vision as well, and Dill reveals to Sahara that an occasional side-effect of pregnancy is the temporary return of the psychic abilities lost at puberty. Soon after making amends, Dill corners several infected soldiers and intends for them to be captured and studied, but as he insults them another infected soldier kills him with a knife that Dax gave him earlier.The assault is blamed on Dax his name was inscribed on the knife and he is imprisoned. Eventually a dropship arrives but all of the troopers are infected including Shepherd, who, if returned to Earth, may infect the leaders of the Federation. Rake takes multiple adrenaline shots and kills many infected soldiers, then frees Dax, but kills herself because she has also been infected. Sahara and Dax kill the rest of the infected troops, and make it to the roof of the structure to confront the infected Shepherd just as the pulse fences give way.
